WELCOME BACK, MR. POPIL @ Meta - tonite, 7PM

Dear Meta House friends,

Tonight (TUE, 23/06, 7 PM), we invite you for the "WELCOME BACK" of
Stephane Janine,
the former founder of Phnom Penh's first Photo art gallery "Popil".

The french photograpger left Cambodia for the USA in 2007. Stephane
Janine: "I
worked and lived in Cambodia many years, a country that I have visited and
photographed on many occasions since the early 90s. I now live in the
Washington DC
area where I shoot editorial and social events as well."

Stehane returned to Phnom Penh for the exhibition GLOBAL HYBRID, that
opens on the
2nd of July. Tonight at Meta House, he shows works under the title "THE
SUBSTANCE
BENEATH THE VISIBLE - Images from the USA, Cambodia and France" and holds
a Q&A.

Hope to see you for this presentation or in the following days:

* WED, 24/06, 7 PM CAMBODIA FOR SALE
The NGO COHRE presents Nana Yuriko's new documentary (2009, 57 mins). The
German
filmmaker tells the powerful story of Cambodian communities which struggle
against
forced evictions and the human rights activists working to support them.
Join us for
the documentary launch and Q&A with NGO representatives and communities
affected by
eviction.

* THU, 25/06, 7 PM DOGORA & BARAKA
Two excellent films without words: Patrice Leconte's DOGORA captures the
daily
routines of Khmer people in beautiful images - acompanied by a classical
music
soundtrack. It is clearly inspired by Ron Fricke's masterpiece BARAKA (shown
afterwards), which also features a number of long tracking shots -
including one
through S-21/Tuol Sleng.
