Hailed as a Voice of Cambodia for the world stages of the future, Khmer tenor HY CHANTHAVOUTH studied at the
Royal University of Fine Arts. H is teachers there included Mari Jinnai. Canada’s CAMBODIA SUPPORT GROUP
sponsored him to study in Canada since September 2007, and he has earned great success. His vocal
richness, stage presence and lively humour gain standing ovations and raves: “Where did that
big voice come from?” “It’s like turning on an amplifier!” “I’d listen to him anytime,
anywhere!” He is also a dedicated humanitarian volunteer and a
brilliant college student. He will return to Canada
in June. This concert is raising funds
for his ongoing studies.
