MOHAORI and Other Traditional Songs

THURSDAY, MAY 21, 7:00PM

@ Chinese House

Mohaori is a form of secular court music. Its origin stretches back to the Angkorian Empire, and has long enjoyed a reputation as an intellectual sort of music for high-class entertainment.  Mohaori music delights in complex melodies, poetic lyrics, and delicate sonic textures.  Long played only by women, today mohaori is performed by both genders and by ensembles as many as twelve different instruments.
