MON, 17/03. THE KHMER ROUGE LEGACY
07.00PM "KAMPUCHEA: DEATH AND REBIRTH" is the first documentary after Khmer Rouge, shot by famous GDR filmmakers Heynowski/Scheumann: The scenes filmed during spring 1979 in Cambodia are part of history: a metropolis left to rampant nature, skull heaps, destroyed faces and cultural landscapes. The reports of the survivors are moving and harrowing. Thanks to Progress Berlin for letting us screen it!!!! Cambodian Premiere!
08.30PM "LOOKING BACK, LOOKING AHEAD" - 10 Mini Documentaries on Khmer Rouge History and Reconcilitation by DMC students at the Royal University of Phnom Penh
09.30 THE FLUTE PLAYER by Jocelyn Glatzer (USA)
The Flute Player" is a one-hour documentary film about the life and work of Cambodian genocide survivor Arn Chorn-Pond. Today at the age of 38, Arn has taken his very tragic past and turned it into something inspirational. He is striving to heal the deep scars of Pol Pot's genocide by bringing Cambodia's once outlawed traditional music back to his people.

08.00PM "WHEN THE FLOODS RECEDE" by Peter Degen
Each year 10 days before full moon in January a big fish migration takes place in the Tonle Sap River. Thousands of people flock to the Tonle Sap from all over the country to make prahoc, the famous Cambodian fermented fish paste.
09.00PM "THE SERENGETI OF ASIA" by Allan Michaud (UK)
A fine selection of footage of Cambodian birds – filmed eg. In the famous Prek Tol bird sanctuary on the Tonle Sab lake
9.30PM: "FOREST MOUNTAIN VOICES" – the first indigenous community media project in Ratanakiri/Cambodia. Young Tampeun, Jarai and Kreung make media in indigenous languages about culture, community and the essential connection between the indigenous people of Ratanakiri & the land
