Chan Sour Sdey aka DJ Sdey was born in Phnom Penh in the year 1963.
When the Khmer Rouge took power in 1975 his parents were killed. Sdey was
raised in a Khmer Rouge detention camp and trained as a propaganda
singer. Nowadays he is Cambodianâ?Ts Hip Hop King and educates childen on
the genocide. His first Cambodian CD release (with DJ Sope) was titled
â?oKhmer Rouge Rapâ?� (1997).

When Malle was cutting Phantom India, he found that the footage shot in
Calcutta was so diverse, intense, and unforgettable that it deserved
its own film. The result is at times shocking--a chaotic portrait of a
city engulfed in social and political turmoil, edging ever closer to
oblivion. With English subtitles.
