After the successful opening of our Khmer Rouge Exhibition ART OF SURVIVAL
(on-going at Meta House) we cordially invite you for the start of our panel
discusssions (Khmer/English) on the same issue – in cooperation with the
Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAS) and Goethe Institute.

* Sophilline Cheam Shapiro
(Famous Cambodian Choreographer/Khmer Arts Academy –
one of the first graduates of Royal University of Fine Arts
after the fall of the KR)
* Horst Hoheisel (German Memorial Artist, focuses artistically on the
Holocaust and the National Socialist Movement, Meta House
artist-in-residence)
* Louis Bickford (USA, International Center for Transitional Justice)
Moderator: Jane Martin (UK, Arts for Development Specialist)
Key Questions:
How does the period of the Khmer Rouge influence the arts in Cambodia today?
How can artists respond in the construction/ reconstruction of memory after
a period of war? What are the greatest challenges for Cambodian arts/artists
after Khmer Rouge? What can Cambodian artists and contemporary arts give
back to Cambodian society?
The panel will be videotaped as part of our on-going ART OF SURVIVAL
documentation. Next panels will be help every Monday, from 7PM at the same
location.
