"TINY TOONES FREEZE": BREAKDANCING FOR A BETTER FUTURE
Tiny Toones uses breakdancing, Hip-Hop music, and the contemporary arts as
creative
tools to empower the youth of Cambodia to live healthier lives free of HIV
and
drugs, build a more promising future by furthering their educational
opportunities,
and become positive role models for their community. US photographer Jen May
Pastores taught basic fundamentals of photography to the kids over 4
weeks. We
invite you for tonight's exhibition opening, an auction and a performance by
Cambodia's best-known breakdance crew. On the rooftop we will screen the
documentary
GIANT STEPS (USA, 2009) portraying two dance NGOs: Tiny Toones and Khmer Arts
Academy.

PHNOM PENH HIP HOP BACKSTAGE & "STRAIGHT REFUGEEZ"
In May 2009, the Centre Cultural Français and Meta House staged the first
Phnom Penh
Hip Hop Festival with support of the Goethe Institute. German film
director Jan
Mueller followed these successful events in a series for APSARA TV.
Tonight, we are
screening his BACKSTAGE documentary for the first time in English - featuring
Klap-Ya-Handz, Tiny Toons, DJ Sdey, MC Curly and many others. Ian White's
documentary STRAIGHT REFUGEEZ (2005, 75 min) pictures so-called
"returnees" in
Cambodia: In 2002, the US and Cambodia signed an agreement that more than
1000
Khmer-American convicts are to be deported to Cambodia. One of them was
KK, the
founder of Tiny Toones.

"END OF AMERICA. 10 STEPS TO CLOSE AN OPEN SOCIETY"
From award-winning filmmakers Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern comes the
provocative
and expertly crafted film about Naomi Wolf's book END OF AMERICA. In a
stunning
indictment of sweeping policy changes during the Bush years, Naomi Wolf
makes a
chilling case that American democracy is under threat. Investigating
parallels
between the USA's current situation and the rise of dictators and fascism in
once-free societies. Wolf uncovers a number of deeply unsettling
similarities—from
the use of secret prisons to the targeted suspension of the rule of law.
Wolf gives
details about the ten steps a country takes when it slides toward Fascism.
