JOOP!

Dear META HOUSE friends,

Tonight, THUR, 09/07, 7 PM we invite you for a special event:
"JOOP!" is the first "spoken word/music/film" performance @ META ever.

"JOOP" means "meeting" in Khmer. 3 Australian artists meet Cambodian star
musician
Ouch Savy – the most acclaimed female Chapai player!

Be prepared for a night of voice, sound and image – from traditional
poetry to Khmer
Hip Hop: Australian musician and filmmaker Julien Poulson has just
returned from
Turkey, where he was shooting a documentary about transgender people. Now
he is
putting together a film about the small but vibrant Phnom Penh music
scene, together
with his friend and colleague Justin Foster.

Tonight they will show excerpts from their film THE RIVER FLOWS BACKWARDS.
Australian writer Laura Jean McKay explores texts from and about Cambodia,
accompanied by female chapei player Ouch Savy. Celebrating music, film and
