Current edition introduces Live Music acts

November 5, 2008 (Cambodia). The 2nd annual CAMBOFEST: Film & Video Festival of Cambodia is the first dedicated, internationally recognized movie festival in Cambodia. This independent, private sector movie event, held this year on December 26th-28th in Siem Reap, Cambodia, will present a total of 50+ independent features, documentaries, shorts, animation and selected social issue movies from around the world, all in their Cambodian (if not Asian continental) premieres.

Participating venues include the FCC Angkor @ Pokambor Ave., next to the Royal Residence, and the XBar Rooftop venue at Nº. 12, Sivatha Street, with others to be announced (see the CamboFest website at www.cambofest.com for complete information)

CAMBOFEST 2008 is made possible with the support of the US Embassy, Phnom Penh Cambodia, and with the assistance of numerous partners, supporters, friends, and grass-roots volunteers. CamboFest has recognized by the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (www.asiapacificscreenawards.com) and other international motion picture industry groups as a bona fide Cambodia-based motion picture event, due to CamboFest's consistent industry-standard diligence in securing public performance permissions from all participating filmmakers & copyright holders.

The complete schedule (to be announced shortly) includes movies from: the UK, Somalia, Kenya, Germany, the USA, Singapore, Canada, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Brazil, Australia, Poland, Taiwan, the Russian Federation, Hungary, Myanmar, Israel, Italy, Malaysia...and of course, Cambodia.

In addition to film screenings, CamboFest will present musical acts REMY ZERO (recently relocated from LA to Phnom Penh, best known for the theme song of the hit TV Show SMALLVILLE) and others, TBA.

CamboFest VIP passes are available for purchase at FCC & Xbar to enjoy discounts at either venue, as well as special access and other perks.

The festival this year will present several categories, each competing for a Grabay Meas ("Golden Buffalo") award:

Best Fiction Feature – Best longform feature film (over 56 minutes)

Best Documentary Feature – Best nonfiction feature (over 56 minutes)

Local Showcase – Best work by a local Cambodian director (any length)
