ART, MUSIC & FILMS - THIS WEEK @ META HOUSE PHNOM PENH]

Dear Meta House Friends!

This week we would like to invite you to our BLUES NIGHT (Tuesday) and for
a filmic review of the highly acclaimed SPOTLIGHT FESTIVAL (2007), which
was also held at Meta House (Wednesday).

* Thursday and Friday we show compelling documentaries from the USA and
Cambodia. Friday’s films about the development work of the German GTZ
PSP have been produced by META HOUSE.

!!!! On Saturday we are hosting a very special music event on our rooftop:
The MESSENGER BAND is a Cambodian girl group with a social mission. Former
garment factory workers sing about the impact of globalization, sex work
and child labour. US Filmmaker David Eberhardt (“Long Gone”) has
directed tw music videos for the MESSENGERS, that will be part of the
presentation. (English translation) !!!

Our ART OF SURVIVAL exhibition, in which Cambodian and intern. artists
reflect on the KR Genocide, is currently to be seen in two locations: META
HOUSE and BOPHANA CENTER: /#64, Street 200, Tel: 023 992 174).

2. MURDER BALL A documentary about wheelchair rugby also known as
"Murderball" â€" directed by H.A. Rubin & D. A. Shapiro (2006, 85min)

INTERNATIONAL DOC NITE: VENUS BOYZ
A film journey through a universe of female masculinity. A legendary Drag
Queen Night in New York is the point of departure for an odyssey to
transgender worlds, by Gabrielle Baur (2002, 102min)

FOCUS CAMBODIA: GTZ PSP Documentaries by Nico Mesterharm
Sneak Preview of 8 short documentaries for the German Development
Cooperation GTZ PSP by Nico Mesterharm. The films focus on various
Cambodian model projects - from "Mat Making in Kandal" to “Rural
electrification”.

SAT, 13/09
MUSIC @ META: MESSENGER BAND
Initiated and formed by the grass roots advocacy group “Womyn’s Agenda
for change” (WAC). The first female garment factory workers band sings
about globalisation, sex work and child labour. Their live performance is
accompanied by a music video of US filmmaker David Eberhard (“Long
Gone”).
