Facility is working in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to promote the development
of sustainable and "destination friendly" tourism. The tourism initiative
"Stay Another Day Cambodia" gives many good reasons to discover the kingdom
"off the beaten track"…

"Friends") plus 15 animated shorts made by children: Meta House is
dedicating one evening to the new global generation of filmmakers…

TOUGH ENOUGH
From its opening shot, Detlev Buck's "Tough Enough" is as uncompromising as
its title suggests, another example of the emerging power of new German
filmmaking. After trashy blonde Miriam and her 15-year-old son Michael are
literally thrown onto the streets by her by Ang Lee ethnic neighbourhood in
Berlin. (2006, English Version)

DIE ANGKAR
Die Dokumentationen der ostdeutschen Filmemacher Walter Heynowski und
Gerhard Scheumann (heutzutage im Vetrieb von Progress/Berlin) erfuhren eine
für ihr Genre außerordentliche Verbreitung. Sie wurden in mehr als 75
Ländern aufgeführt und galten als Markenartikel des DDR-Films. Mit "Die
Angkar" legte Studio H&S 1981 seinen zweiten Film über das Terrorregime Pol
Pots in Kambodscha vor, der zu den wichtigsten und überzeugendsten Arbeiten
des Teams gezählt wird. (Only in German/in Deutsch)

Many travelers cite Angkor Wat, one  of the great wonders of the world and
symbol of the heart and soul of the Cambodian nation, as one of the
highlights of a visit to SE Asia. However few tourists venture beyond the
glory of the temples into wider Cambodia to discover other aspects that make
up that diverse and captivating country. The tourism initiative "Stay
Another Day Cambodia" gives many good reasons to discover the kingdom "off
the beaten track"…

FOCUS CAMBODIA
MEKONG - THE MOTHER/WHEN THE FLOODS RECEDE
People not only fish but also plant rice, use the Mekong and its associated
tributaries as a means of communication and transportation. Two powerful
documentaries by German anthropologist Peter Degen focus on the waterways of
Cambodia. (English language, partly with subtitles for interviews in Khmer
and riparian languages by (2000/2001 – total program: 97min)

SET IN ASIA
LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA
Clint Eastwood's epic film is based on the book "Letters From Commander in
Chief General Tadamichi Kuritayashi" (portrayed on screen by Ken Watanabe)
and "So Sad to Fall in Battle: An Account of War" by Kumiko Kakehashi about
the Battle of Iwo Jima. While some characters, such as Saigo, are fictional,
the overall battles as well as several of the commanders are based upon
actual people and events. (In Japanese with English subtitles, 2006, 142
min)
