"Rice People" Film Screening Oct. 6 3pm

Dear Friends,

This Saturday October 6, we will be screening the
third film in our weekly human rights and social
justice film series at Pannasastra University.

We will be showing RICE PEOPLE aka LES GENS DE LA
RIZIERE, or NEAK SRE, (in Khmer with English
subtitles).

Released in 1994 and one of Director Rithy Panh's
earliest works, it is a simple but powerful story of a
rural Cambodian family and their struggles to bring in
their rice crop. The screenplay was adapted from the
novel Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan by the Malaysian author
Shahnon Ahmad.

Beautifully photographed, and featuring some strong
peformances, the film deals with issues of memory,
loss, survival, and resilience, which are at the heart
of many of Rithy Panh's films.

Screening time is at 3pm, and the venue is Pannasastra
University Srey Dim Conference Hall, 184 Norodom
Boulevard,Phnom Penh.

The screen is large (by PP standards) and there is
comfortable seating and air con.

For further information please call 012 620 571.

Hope to see you then, and tell your friends!

Ray Leos
