In commemoration of the late King Father we invite you to a selection of documentaries and feature films, directed by Sihanouk Norodom. Please find more informations below (Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd).

Tonight, 7PM, we'll invite you to Sihanouk's ROSE OF BOKOR. Filmed in 1969 on Bokor mountain amongst other scenic Cambodian locations, the film (1969, 70 mins, Engl. subs) is set amidst the triangle of French and Japanese control and the growing seeds of Khmer independence.

We'll welcome for a panel discussion/Q&A legendary journalists James Gerrand, James Pringle, Roland Neveu and Tim Page - in cooperation with the Overseas Press Club of Cambodia.

Screening of David Bradbury's docu FRONTLINE about legendary cameraman Neil Davis, who was killed filming an attempted coup in the streets of Bangkok. On display: Photographs from the Cambodian section of the book REQUIEM: BY THE PHOTOGRAPHERS WHO DIED IN VIETNAM AND INDOCHINA, co-published by Horst Faas & Tim Page.

CAMBODIA'S FILMIC HISTORY: KING SIHANOUK'S GOLDEN SIXTIES
4PM: THE HEART OF A MOTHER (1965, 80 mins, Khmer, English subs) is directed by the late Yvon Hem. The Cambodian helmer tells the moving story of Chenda. The farmer's daughter migrates to Phnom Penh, where she struggles hard to raise her daughter. 7PM: No monarch in modern times has embodied the life and fate of his country so completely as H.R.H. Norodom Sihanouk, who was also a journalist, editor, impresario and filmmaker. Filmed in 1969 on Bokor mountain amongst other scenic Cambodian locations, his classic feature ROSE OF BOKOR (1969, 70 mins, Engl. subs) is set amidst the triangle of French and Japanese control and the growing seeds of Khmer independence.

SIHANOUK'S LEGACY: CAMBODIA 1965, "PRINCE & THE PROPHECY"
4PM: Rare footage from the archives of the Royal Palace takes our audience back to CAMBODIA 1965 (50 mins, no dialogues), when the kingdom was considered the "Switzerland of SE Asia. 7PM: Norodom Sihanouk, was a pivotal figure in Cambodian public life for more than six decades. A week after his passing in October 2013, TVK's Equity Weekly Program examined the late king's achievements including his campaign for independence and promotion of education, sports and arts (30 mins, Khmer/Engl. subs). Screening is followed by Jim Gerrand's docu THE PRINCE AND THE PROPHECY (1988, 75mins, English). The Australian filmmaker explores Sihanouk's charisma and contradictions.

SIHANOUK BEFORE & AFTER THE GENOCIDE: FEATURE, TWO DOCUS
4PM: In his palmy days the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk edited magazines, composed music and directed films. His feature SHADOW OVER ANGKOR (1969, 110 mins.) uncovers an international plot to topple the Cambodian government. 7PM: A sequel to "Prince and the Prophecy", James Gerrand's CAMBODIA KAMPUCHEA (1988, 60 mins, English subs) exposes the nightmare of the revolution unleashed by the Khmer Rouge, featuring interviews with Sianouk. 8PM: Tom Fawthrop's docu DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES: CAMBODIA TEN YEARS AFTER POL POT (25 mins, Engl.), was directed and produced for Channel 4's Bandung series in 1989. Director Tom Fawthrop will attend the screening (Q&A).

TUES 5
CAMBODIA'S PAST & PRESENT THROUGH THE EYES OF THE MEDIA
6PM: Meta & Overseas Press Club of Cambodia invite you to forum about the transition from war to peace in Cambodia through the eyes of the media. The panel will compose of five leading journalists, who covered the Indochina conflict. They are returning to Cambodia for Sihanouk's cremation and the rededication of the PP media memorial.
